D.W. Gaston, Sr., acquired the property in 1909, marking the beginning of a family legacy closely associated with the stable. Together with his son, D.W. Gaston, Jr., they operated the livery until 1932, providing essential services to both year-round residents and members of the Winter Colony.

Architecturally, the Gaston Livery Stable is a striking example of barn design, boasting a two-and-a-half-story, 10,000 square foot, all-brick structure with a distinctive U-shape. Its Eclectic Victorian style, characterized by a symmetrical floorplan and a one-story Porte-cochere, adds to its architectural charm.
